This fall, we held a teacher supply drive across our footprint. The goal: to provide teachers with classroom essentials and to show our appreciation for all they do to create a world of possibilities within our schools.
After all, many of us remember a teacher who impacted us.
"[My teacher's] advice helped me discover the possibilities of a career in engineering.”
“For the longest time, I didn’t know what I wanted to be,” said associate engineer Tessa Lancaster. “My junior high math teacher encouraged me to think about things I enjoyed, like math and being creative. Her advice helped me discover the possibilities of a career in engineering.”
Group Leader Pat Lusk even recalls a note his teacher wrote coming to fruition.
"My fourth-grade teacher was my favorite growing up. In her end-of-year letter to me, she predicted that I might one day become an engineer,” he said. “I sent her a picture of that letter several years back and it was fun to reconnect with her and see her prediction come full circle."
Our employees’ generosity made it possible to deliver more than 625 giftbags to teachers, filled with classroom supplies, thank-you notes, and more.
“It’s so helpful for us to have supplies from companies that allow us to benefit student learning,” said third-grade teacher Claire Carpenter.
We’re grateful for all teachers do to support students and communities – and for how they have shaped and inspired our careers.
“It means the world to me that even what I do, although it feels small some days, is going to leave a lasting impact on our community,” said sixth-grade teacher Allison Vana.
