Karen Hankinson named one of the top women in railroad engineering

Olsson's Karen Hankinson has been named one of Railway Track & Structure's top women in railroad engineering.

The industry publication honored Hankinson for "25 years of shaping the future of rail transportation in the United States." She is featured along with thirteen other women in the July 2025 issue.

The publication mentioned Hankinson's many credentials, including her work on major initiatives like the Orange County Grade Crossings Safety Enhancement project and her leadership positions in organizations like the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA), the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), and the National Committee of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (NCUTCD).

Hankinson is the Senior Team Leader of Olsson's Rail Engineering and Design team and is based out of our Irvine, California office.

Railway Track and Structures honored Karen Hankinson for her work to "influence policy, share best practices, and mentor the next generation of rail professionals."
