Water resources professionals at Olsson appeared in a nationally distributed news video showing how the OpenET platform supports more efficient water management.

The two-minute video story for the NBC NewsChannel describes how farmers and water managers are using data on evapotranspiration (ET), which refers to the water transpired by plants or evaporated from the soil into the atmosphere. OpenET is a nonprofit online platform that calculates ET at the field level, helping farmers irrigate more efficiently and helping water managers improve the sustainability of groundwater resources.

The story features interviews with Olsson’s Jim Schneider and Tiara Marx, who use OpenET among other data platforms in their water resources project work. Titled “Science and Snacks,” the story also features Nebraska agricultural producer Joe Wahlgren, who raises grain used for a popular brand of tortilla chip.

National correspondent Brad Hicks produced the story for NBC News Channel, a service that distributes news features to NBC affiliate stations across the United States.
