ENR Midwest recognizes three projects for "outstanding work"

November 13, 2025 – Three Olsson projects have been recognized by ENR Midwest on its 2025 Best Project Awards list. Projects were selected for “outstanding quality of work," innovative ideas and overcoming challenges.

Four panels of industry-expert judges selected 33 winners across 11 states and 18 categories, ranging from airports and government to sports and healthcare. Projects had to be completed between May 2024 and May 2025.

"Winners completed projects that represent outstanding quality of work, spurred innovative ideas and overcame tough challenges."

Olsson was recognized for our civil engineering services in the following project categories:

Cultural/Worship Category

Best Project Award: Joslyn Art Museum

Location: Omaha, Neb.

What ENR Midwest said:

“Nearly a century after its original Memorial Building opened in 1931, the Joslyn Art Museum in downtown Omaha embarked on an expansion that reimagines what a 21st-century arts institution can be. The expansion and renovation project, anchored by the new Rhonda & Howard Hawks Pavilion, doubles the museum’s gallery space, enhances community engagement and connects nearly a hundred years of architecture into one seamless experience.”

“Reopened in fall 2024, the reimagined campus houses new education studios, community gathering spaces and sculpture gardens, positioning Joslyn as a regional hub for cultural engagement and learning.”

Sports/Entertainment Category

Best Project Award: Osborne Legacy Complex

Location: Lincoln, Neb.

What ENR Midwest said:

“Spanning 315,000 sq ft, this $125-million expansion of historic Memorial Stadium has brought new life to the University of Nebraska’s football program and its student-athlete facilities through a three-year, two-phase construction effort that balanced modernization with preservation.”

“The project united a new football performance center and comprehensive student-athlete amenities under one roof. The first phase added athletic medicine, strength and conditioning areas, locker rooms, meeting rooms and football offices. The second phase delivered an academic center, a full-service dining hall and an experience lobby for visitors and recruits.”

Renovation/Restoration Category

Award of Merit: Catalyst Omaha

Location: Omaha, Neb.

What ENR Midwest said:

“An adaptive reuse project at the historic Omaha Steel Works site, established in 1906, has transformed deteriorating structures into a premier hub for medical innovation and entrepreneurship. The project team integrated two existing vacant buildings into a single 170,000-sq-ft, three-story facility. The revitalized space integrates preserved historic architectural elements, including original exposed brick, steel columns and industrial accents, into a modern design.”

“Catalyst Omaha was designed for interdisciplinary use, featuring flexible workspaces, retail spaces, state-of-the-art amenities and community-focused spaces. Plans are underway to incorporate a restaurant and brewery, coffee shop and research support center.”

Projects will be recognized at the upcoming awards banquet in Chicago on November 18. For more information visit www.enr.com/articles/61845-midwest-projects-showcase-excellence.
