Mike Milius, a leader for the North Kansas City water/wastewater team at Olsson, received the Arthur Sidney Bedell Award from the Nebraska Water Environment Association to honor his years of service in the organization.

The Bedell Award is given to individuals who provide extraordinary service to a Water Environment Federation association.

Milius is a long-time member of the NWEA and has served in leadership positions in the organization since 2008, when he was named to the association’s executive board. He ultimately was named the group’s president in 2015, and he still serves the group as Federation director.

“We are privileged to work with Mike every day, and it’s gratifying to see a professional organization recognize the contributions he makes on behalf of water and wastewater engineering,” said John Olsson, executive vice president of consulting services at Olsson. “Mike is well-deserving of the Bedell Award, and we’re proud of the work he does to better our communities.”

Milius was a student intern at Olsson from 1987 through 1989 and then joined the firm full time in 1990 after graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in civil engineering. He started his career in the Lincoln office and then moved to Holdrege. Milius now works out of Olsson’s North Kansas City, Missouri, office.
