Olsson Names Kurt Rotering Traffic and Technology Team Leader

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas (November 4, 2020) – Olsson, a nationally recognized engineering and design firm, announces that Kurt Rotering has joined the firm as leader of its Kansas City Traffic and Technology team. Rotering is based in Olsson’s Overland Park office and will oversee all traffic and technology projects in Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Arkansas.

Rotering has 13 years of experience as a traffic engineer leading large- and small-scale projects in multiple states. His projects have included major campus traffic studies and designs, roadway traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), roundabout designs, traffic signaling, street lighting and traffic impact analysis.

“Kurt has a proven track record and a solid reputation for leading successful traffic engineering projects,” said Jamie Fain, Olsson’s Overland Park office leader. “He has a wealth of knowledge in how to design effective traffic solutions that keep people moving safely and efficiently that will greatly benefit our clients.”

Before joining Olsson, Rotering gained experience building and directing a traffic engineering team in the Kansas City, Missouri, area. He started that traffic team and expanded its size and scope during a five-year period. While growing his team, Rotering led projects throughout the Midwest.

Rotering is involved with several engineering organizations in the area. He is president of the Kansas Society of Professional Engineering-Eastern Chapter and also serves as past president of ITS Heartland.  

Rotering earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Kansas State University.
