Luke Air Force Base

Glendale, Arizona

We provided design-build and construction services for the renovation of Building 976 at Luke Air Force Base (AFB). This facility is used to conduct pilot training on the new F-35 Lightning II aircraft for Japanese and South Korean personnel under a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case.

Our work for this project was completed as part of our multiple-award construction contract with Luke AFB.

The major scope of work for this project was to perform a complete interior remodel and reconstruction of approximately 5,776 square feet of the existing facility. Because of security sensitivity, Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF)/Special Access Program Facilities (SAPF) construction requirements were used for much of the southern portion of the construction. This included partial floor removal and replacement, full floor-to-ceiling structure walls with double layers of wallboard, acoustical treatment to sound transmission coefficient 45 Sound Group 3, access control system, and intrusion detection system.

Within the nonsensitive areas, flooring modifications and wall construction were required to accommodate new offices for physical training. Olsson also provided lighting, fire suppression, mechanical upgrades, and electrical modifications. Strong project management, meticulous quality control, and close collaboration with the government ensured on-time completion, commissioning, SCIF accreditation, and overall project success.
