The Cozad Telephone Company contracted with our firm to design a state-of-the-art, Fiber–to-the-Home (FTTH) deployment, bringing 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) of bandwidth to more than 2,100 businesses and residences within the Cozad city limits. This network is used for voice and data (Internet) services but can be expanded to Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) services in the future.
The project involved detailed design and construction administration for 103 miles of zero-water-peak, single-mode, trunk and branch fiber, along with Optical Network Terminal (ONT) and pedestal locating.
We brought several innovations to the project, including:
- High-resolution aerial photography, allowing the plan set to be delivered in full color with a high level of detail.
- Field survey of each individual business and residence within city limits. We also produced a plan set that contained images of each structure and located each ONT and power source.
- Complete construction administration services, including two full-time observers to cover all construction activities.
- Our patented CPR Central Power, which allows for central powering of FTTH deployments, eliminating the need for batteries at each ONT.
The project was designed based upon Occam Networks’ head-end and field (ONT) gear.
