Lincoln, Nebraska (January 21, 2021) – Ten employees from Olsson recently passed standard required exams and earned professional engineer (PE) certification. Two employees passed the landscape architect registration exam (LARE) to become professional landscape architects (PLA).
To earn PE certification and be promoted to associate engineer, a person must complete four years of professional experience under a licensed PE and pass the PE exam. A PLA must complete three years under a licensed professional and pass four exams. The 11 Olsson employees are named below:
Adam Larsen, Water & Transportation team. Larsen specializes in bridge design and helps with structural and roadway projects, both designing and using computer-aided design (CAD). He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Arizona State University and is a Scottsdale, Arizona native.
Austin Vachal, The Olsson Studio. Vachal is a Lincoln, Nebraska, native, who specializes in design and planning and is experienced in project management, working with clients on various services. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture.
Corey Mayo, General Civil team. Mayo designs PAD sites and multifamily residential units while regularly coordinating with clients on projects. He is a Sioux City, Iowa, native and graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
Erin Wilson, The Olsson Studio. Wilson primarily works on design production from concept development to construction documents and specializes in 3D modeling and visualization. She is originally from Marion, South Dakota, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from Kansas State University.
Jesse Menter, Power Delivery team. Menter, from Lincoln, Nebraska, designs electrical systems for substations and power delivery projects. He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Jessica Simonson, Rail Bridge team. Simonson designs and details various rail structures and helps facilitate the drafting, quality control and management of several projects. She is from New Underwood, South Dakota, and graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
Joseph Kwak, Field Operations team. Kwak works on different types of commercial, residential and industrial developments, where he coordinates field investigations and writes geotechnical reports. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and is a Moore, Oklahoma native.
Kyle Peterson, General Civil team. Peterson, a Crystal Lake, Illinois native, performs site layout and production, and designs grading, stormwater and stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP) for clients. He has also worked on a variety of projects from data centers to parking lot expansions. Peterson received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Iowa State University.
Marc Roy, Roadway team. Roy is primarily responsible for roadway design and modeling and works closely with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation on projects. He is originally from Amarillo, Texas, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Oklahoma State University.
Michael Greufe, General Civil team. Greufe works on a variety of commercial, industrial and residential projects, and performs design for site grading, paving, utility detention and water quality services. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is from Elkhorn, Nebraska.
Ryan Ernst, Rail Track team. Ernst has worked on numerous rail projects throughout the country and specializes in designing intermodal and automotive facilities, new railroad sidings and siding extensions. He is a Wiggins, Colorado native, and graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Taylor Jurgens, Water & Wastewater team. Jurgens focuses on the detailed design and analysis of water and wastewater systems, while regularly coordinating with clients and providing construction administration services. He is originally from Holdrege, Nebraska, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
