FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas (July 7, 2020) – Longtime Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) engineer Andy Brewer has joined Olsson, a nationally recognized engineering and design firm, as a senior leader in its new Fayetteville Transportation team.

Brewer joins Olsson after spending more than 15 years at ARDOT. Since 2015, Brewer served as ARDOT’s assistant division engineer for Transportation Planning and Policy. In this role, he managed a team of 55 full-time employees and had direct oversight for five sections within the division: Traffic Safety; Multimodal and Project Planning; Metropolitan Planning Organization Coordination; GIS & Mapping; and Public Transportation.

While at ARDOT, Brewer was also responsible for the oversight of the state Highway Safety Improvement Program, railroad coordination, interchange justification reports, strategic and long-range plans, traffic modeling, transportation performance management, access management, road user cost analysis, benefit-cost studies, and traffic and corridor studies.

Prior to that, Brewer spent time as a planning engineer and traffic safety engineer for the division.

“Andy brings to Olsson a knowledge of the Arkansas market, nearly two decades of transportation experience in the public sector and a vast network throughout the state,” said Rick Herrick, Olsson’s Fayetteville Transportation team leader. “He has a broad background in all facets of transportation, including planning and traffic technology.”

Brewer was chairman of the Arkansas Traffic Incident Management Committee; the Arkansas Highway Safety Steering Committee; ARDOT’s Transportation Systems Management and Operations Committee; its Motorist Assistance Patrol Committee; and its research subcommittee on Innovative Countermeasures to Deter Wrong-Way Driving. He is the founder and administrator of the Arkansas Chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

Brewer holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arkansas.

The addition of Brewer strengthens Olsson’s Fayetteville Transportation team. Since its inception, the team has experienced significant growth to provide a full range of transportation services to municipalities and state agencies in Arkansas.
